The Northwest Counseling Center family consists of licensed professionals and Interns with a passion for helping others through therapy.

Roger Yoder, Ph.D, LMHC (WA), LCPC (ID), NCC, Owner

Dr. Roger Yoder is a licensed mental health counselor (WA) and a Licensed Professional Counselor (ID). In 2019 he earned his doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, which included advanced training in research and clinical practice. He is a Certified Trauma Professional, specializing in EMDR and other advanced trauma therapies.  Dr. Yoder is an EMDRIA Consultant and Trainer.  He is also advanced trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and mindfulness based Brainspotting. Virtual Reality Therapy (VRT) is a key part of the unique therapeutic process utilized by Dr. Yoder. Dr. Yoder served in the military as a member of Security Police/Forces in the United States Air Force. This was followed up by many years as a Federal Antiterrorism Officer. He has a passion for working with first responders, police, military, veterans, and fire fighters.

Terese Medina, MS, LMHC, Owner

Terese is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor specializing in EMDR, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and mindfulness based Brainspotting.  She is passionate about working with older adults who experiencing life changes. Terese has advanced training related to therapy for anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, and other mental health issues.

Shawna Yoder, MS, LMHCA, Owner

Shawna is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate. She has specialized training in EMDR through an EMDRIA approved basic training program and Certified Master Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) Practitioner. She has experience working with first responders, veterans, medical professionals and therapists. She has specialized training in therapy to address anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, and other mental health issues. Her background includes experiences as a felony probation officer and a court coordinator.

Ashlynn Tesdahl, Intern

Ashlynn is a counseling intern pursuing a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Prior to entering the counseling field, she spent four years as a 911 dispatcher, supporting individuals during emergencies and crises. This experience strengthened her ability to remain calm under pressure, listen with compassion, and provide steady support when it is needed most.

Her background in emergency communications fostered a deep respect for both trauma survivors and first responders. She is especially passionate about working with individuals who have experienced trauma and those in high-stress helping professions. Ashlynn strives to create a safe, supportive space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered as they process their experiences and move toward healing.
